How to design an electrical installation?

From electrical circuits to service continuity equipment, including protection devices and solutions for managing consumption or lighting, the design of an installation must be anticipated and prepared.

LIST THE CIRCUITS ACCORDING TO THE NF C 15-100 STANDARD

Depending on the size of the dwelling, the electrical appliances present in the dwelling, their number and their power, determine the electrical circuits required to allow the proper functioning of all the equipment: lighting, outlets, cooking plates, oven, water heater, etc.

Depending on the nature of the required circuits, you will then know which section(s) of wire to choose, the number of possible points of use per circuit or the protection devices to associate.

LIST THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT

Circuit protection devices

Depending on the electrical circuits you have listed, list the circuit breakers (or fuses) to be provided to ensure their protection.

Devices for the protection of persons

Differential switches, differential circuit breakers and surge protectors are the 3 essential protection solutions in any electrical installation: list the exact products required according to the electrical circuits present.

Please note that the presence of 30 mA differential switches is mandatory for all circuits:

As for surge protectors, as stipulated in the NF C 15-100 standard, they are mandatory if the house or building :

- is equipped with a lightning conductor

- is located in an area where there are more than 25 days of lightning storms per year and where the power supply is entirely or partially overhead

- is located in an area where there are more than 25 days of lightning storms per year, when the safety of people is concerned. Examples: installation with home medical equipment, intrusion alarm, fire alarm, technical alarm against domestic risks...

Other functions

If applicable, list the power management and lighting management solutions required to meet your customer's needs:

- Programmable time switches: to set the operating times of appliances (washing machines, dryers, air conditioners, illuminated signs, surveillance lighting for outdoor areas, etc.)

- remote switches: to switch on and off the same lighting from several pushbuttons placed in different locations. They are compulsory from 3 or more control points

- timers: to allow automatic switching on and off of a room or a room that is not used for a long time.

or a room used for a short time (cellar, garage...)

Panel to be equipped and connection accessories

As a support for the modular equipment you have listed, the panel must be carefully chosen accordingly and be accompanied by accessories to enable its wiring: terminal blocks, combs and connection terminals.

A well designed electrical installation is good. An electrical installation that guarantees continuity of service is better! Plan an inverter adapted to the planned installation to bring performance and efficiency to your customers in all circumstances.
